Thankful Thursday - My "little" Brother

Today I am Thankful for my “little” brother. Jarrin is 23, not so little anymore but little to me.

Photobucket

Today marks the last chemotherapy treatment for him.

He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma back in October 2010. He has had 4 months of chemo treatment (8 treatments); we are praying that this will be it!

I am Thankful that he has stayed strong throughout his battle. He has still been able to work full time and be himself throughout this process – thank GOD!

If all goes as the Doctor’s think it should, in mid-April they will do a scan and find that the cancer is gone and then for an extra F*ck you Cancer they will do 3 weeks of radiation.

So God-willing he will be cancer free and in remission by the end of May!

We love you Jarrin – keep strong and keep going.

Please send your prayers to Jarrin for strength, hope and healing.

What are you Thankful for?

Rockabye Baby - Review and Giveaway!

Rockabye Baby - review and giveaway!!

You have read in a previous post how much we love Rockabye Baby in our house and now you will get a chance to try it in your nursery too! We are a music family, always have been. The radio is always on in our house and that is the way we hope to bring up Jude too. So far so good – he dances when he hears music of any kind, hello adorable! And since the first night we had him at home we have had Rockabye Baby playing in his nursery on repeat throughout the whole night!

Like I said Jude loves them all:

Photobucket

We are honored to be working with Rockabye Baby and excited to share with you our review of the NEW Weezer CD.

We were asked to review the cd of Weezer and I was thrilled – I may be biased about the Weezer cd because Weezer is one of my very favorite bands! I LOVE THEM!!

Okay but in all honesty this cd is great. Before you even listen to it you see the “real” Weezer qualities in the album art! So fun!!

Photobucket Photobucket

Once Jeremy and I got over the cute album artwork we moved on to listening to the cd! We loved it. We could sing all of the songs and got Jude laughing before bedtime. It really is amazing how true to the original songs they are. With soft melodies the songs bring comfort to all of us.

Once we settled down and fed Jude his bedtime bottle, the lullaby mixes put Jude into sleepy land! Because of Rockabye Baby we have sleep in our house now! Thank you!

We own a lot of the Rockabye Baby cd’s and this one is by far my favorite so far. Of course we are partial to The Beatles as well because “Hey Jude” is on that cd! :O)

Really there are no bad choices when it comes to Rockabye Baby cd’s. It is a different take on a lullaby and we love it. Bring music to your baby early on in life!

Struggles this week:

My biggest struggle was yesterday. We celebrated my mom's birthday. We all went out to dinner, she chose this great Italian Market Buffet! Great! What the hell am I am going to eat. Well I was very carefull all day. Had the lowest calorie foods from Medifast which are shakes as my meals until we got to the Buffet. Back in the day I would eat and eat and eat here, it is a fantastic place BUT last night I went up once. Yup just once. I did eat things that are not on plan but I was proud of myself.

I weighed myself this morning and I am at the same as yesterday! Victory!! LOL Back on plan today.

So far I am down 13 pounds - that is 1 pound so far for week 3. I have heard that week 3 is usually the worst for weight loss, we will see.

I will be ordered another month of Medifast food this week! Loving it!

Pretty sure it is magic! LOL

So here is the run down: Week 1: 8 pounds lost

Week 2: 5 pounds lost!

Weight left to lose: 82 pounds

Goals (revised): 13 pounds: Mani/Pedi 20 pounds: $50 to go shopping for a new outfit 30 pounds: Buy a Magic Bullet 40 pounds: Mani/Pedi 48 pounds (half way there!): Hair Cut/Style/Color 60 pounds: $75 to go shopping for a new outfit 75 pounds: Mani/Pedi 85 pounds: Spa Day! Mani/Pedi/Facial/Massage 95 pounds (GOAL!!!): Buy a pair of Silver Jeans! I have wanted these for so long! And $100 for shopping!!

He started meds today so we are hoping that tonight we can all get some much needed rest.

Updates to come.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Milestones:

*Jude is crawling. Mostly army crawling still but we have seen him get on all fours and move too.

*Jude loves feeding himself! We have introduced him to cherrios, gerber puffers, gerber yogurt snacks, gerber veggie sticks, lemons (yes lemons!), and bananas. He gets so happy when we put him in his high chair with snacks in front of him. Such a big boy!

*Jude completed his first session of Parent/Tot swim lessons! Sea Turtle!

*Jude LOVES the zoo! We have been 2 times this month and his favorite part is the Tropical Discovery.

*Jude does not wear socks anymore. Nope! He takes them off in seconds, instead he is in shoes every day! Silly boy!

*Jude dances anytime he hears music - especially Mickey Mouse's Hot Dog Song! Adorable! Video to come! Promise.
*Jude likes his playroom. He is such a boy - distruction has already happened in that room! lol

*Jude is in 9 month clothes, size 3 and 4 diapers, eats 3 solid meals a day (4 to 5 jars of baby food), he has 4 - 6 ounce bottles a day, and he is finally on a GREAT nap schedule! Thank you!!

To our Little Turtle,

Mommy and Daddy adore you. You make us so happy every day. We love you to pieces.

Thankful Thursday

I am here at home with a yucky viral infection in both eyes. Bummer. Doctor says it is very contagious so I am taking a day to just chill. And my eyes hurt so bad! Driving isnt an option because they hurt, burn, water and close - not too safe! lol

So I am going to try to get some blogging in while I am "resting" my eyes. Don't worry, I will rest them in between blogging. Promise!

Thankful Thursday!

What are you thankful for? I am thankful for this:

Photobucket

I hope this picture makes you smile as much as it makes me smile. They are my boys and they warm my heart. They are my everything!
Don't forget to post what you are thankful for today.

Baby Gear! Part 4

Some of our favorites! Over the months we have come to love all kinds of toys, supplies, ect. Just like my other posts on baby gear items, I am not paid to review these items. Just sharing what we use in our house all the time!

Wash Cloths:
Photobucket
We love these Circo Brand, from Target, wash cloths, they are soft and cheap! We use these every day for feeding time. They arent rough on Jude's face and that is why I love them. Also you can can get a pack of six for 5 bucks! So when they get too stained I throw them out!

Shoes!
Photobucket
I love baby shoes, they are adorable! These do not fit Jude any more but we loved them so we are going to buy more soon. This is the Robeez brand. They are a little pricey but they stay put! Which is what is most important! Socks just do not work with Jude anymore!

Humidifier
Photobucket
We use this warm mist humidifier every night. We live in Colorado, it is dry!! We started using this one because it was a warm mist so it actually helped keep Jude's room warmer through out the bitter cold nights we have PLUS it helped with his dry little nose. Now he is used to the white noise it puts off, we might be investing in a cool humidifier for summer time! Another plus to the warm mist is that it boils the water before it becomes mist which means it is takes care of the germs too! NICE!!

Music - Rockabye Baby

Photobucket
I have talked about Rock-bye-baby cd's before, we LOVE THEM!!! Jude listens to the Beatles, Green Day, Weezer, Aerosmith, Pink, Bob Marley, ect. Again, the white noise is necessary!
Stay tuned for a Rock-a-bye Baby cd giveaway too! Like I said we love them!

Take and Toss Spoons

Photobucket
We love these! So easy, so cheap! Anytime we decide to go out to eat we take these. It means clean up is so much easier. Just leave the used spoon and food containers on the table and done! No messy spoons in your diaper bag! Yes, I know - not that enviromentally sound but there are some parts of parenthood that just don't mesh with the GREEN way of life!

Raspberry Teether
Photobucket
Jude never really was a pacifier user but he adores this pacifier teether. It is so nice too. I put it on a pacifier tether and that way he always has something in hands reach to play with and put in his mouth. We have a red one and a blue one. They are fun! Oh and a really cheap toy too!

HOT DOG SONG!

This is a must. You have to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse at least once with your little one and see if they love this song as much as Jude.

A video of Jude dancing to this song will be posted soon!

Well that is my list as of right now!
Soon it will not be baby gear - it will be Toddler gear. :o( Sad Mommy face!

Take it off Monday's - Week 1

This officially marks the end of my first week! Look at these results!

Photobucket
I am still here! For someone who always cheats on diets, exercise and meal programs; I am surprised and proud of myself! I made it through the 1st week on medifast and loved it actually! Talk about easy and seeing those numbers go down on the scale is also fun!

Friday’s are my weigh in days so last Friday (18th) I got on the scale before work and I was ecstatic to see I was 8 pounds down from the Friday before! Oh.My.Gosh!! 8 pounds in 1 week! This program is magic!

I won’t lie, I have had a few bits of “non program” food but that is better than eating a huge donut or cookie like I used to do! Lol Small steps! We even went out to dinner 2 times last week and I did stay on program! Salads all the way!

One of the biggest struggles I had this week was on St. Patrick’s Day – my agency had a soup lunch for the entire staff. So there I was with my Medifast soup doing so well and then the damn cookies, cake and brownies make their way into the lunch! Oh NO!!! Talk about temptations! So there I was enjoying the company of co-workers and I slipped. I had a half of a cookie. :( No!!! But now that I look at it and see that it could have been worse – I could have had 2 or 3 cookies like I used too. But instead I was able to break a cookie in half and throw the rest of it away. Progress!

Here is what I am going to have to eat today:
Breakfast – Dutch Chocolate Shake
Mid Morning – Choc. Chip Pancakes (made into a muffin)
Lunch – Strawberry Shake
Afternoon – Vanilla Shake
Dinner - Tuna fish salad (no bread or crackers) with 1 dill pickle cut up in the salad with mayo and Cauliflower
Evening – Mint Choc. Soft Serve
(I am at home all day on Monday’s so I try to use mostly shakes since they are easier to do at home in the blender! When I at work I have bars, oatmeal and soup through out the day too)

So here is the run down:
Week 1: 8 pounds lost
Weight left to lose: 87 pounds

Goals (revised):
13 pounds: Mani/Pedi
20 pounds: $50 to go shopping for a new outfit
30 pounds: Buy a Magic Bullet
40 pounds: Mani/Pedi
48 pounds (half way there!): Hair Cut/Style/Color
60 pounds: $75 to go shopping for a new outfit
75 pounds: Mani/Pedi
85 pounds: Spa Day! Mani/Pedi/Facial/Massage
95 pounds (GOAL!!!): Buy a pair of Silver Jeans! I have wanted these for so long! And $100 for shopping!!

Oh and don’t forget to enter my Baby Shines Giveaway! Ends on Thursday night!! Hurry!

Medifast Update

Well I figured I better give y’all a look into what I am doing with Medifast.

Today is day 6 on the program and so far so good! I am actually really enjoying it. This plan is much easier than any other plan I have ever used. YAY!!

I am pleasantly surprised with the results I have had with the program thus far as well. I cannot complain about the numbers decreasing every morning that I get on the scale! Talk about motivation! (yes I am a daily weigher! LOL)

The plan I am using is called 5-1. Basically it is a plan of eating something 6 times a day. 5 medifast meals and then 1 meal that I make/prepare on my own which is called the Lean and Green Meal.

Here are some examples of my day:
8am: French Vanilla Shake
10:30am: Oatmeal Raisin Bar
12:30pm: Chicken Noodle Soup
3:00pm: Oatmeal cookies (made out of the medifast oatmeal)
5:30pm: Lean and Green Meal – 2 veggie burgers (no bun), asparagus and a slice of Swiss cheese
7:45pm: Brownie

8am: Banana Crème Shake
10:30am: Vanilla Pudding
12:30pm: Scrambled Eggs
3:00pm: Chocolate Chip Muffin (made out of pancakes)
5:30pm: Lean and Green Meal – Out to dinner at Chili’s – grilled chicken Caesar salad
7:45pm: Mango Soft Serve

Sounds pretty good right? I have to say that the worst meals I have had so far is the oatmeal. The cookies make it easier to eat but still not great. Oh well. Live and learn!

My first goal is to lose 13 pounds! When I reach that I will be treating myself to a manicure and pedicure!

Second Goal is to lose 26 pounds, hoping to do this by Jude’s 1st birthday!! That would be amazing! My reward for reaching this goal will be $50 to any store to buy a new outfit. :o)

Weight loss to date: 7 pounds!!
Weight left to lose: 73 pounds
I will make sure to keep updates coming about this new meal plan.
Thanks for all of your support!!

As most of you know I started a new food program called Medifast. Medifast is a planned and delivered meal system that is quick and easy! Quick and Easy is what I need!! Thank you!!

My goals on this plan is to first stick to it for at least 2 months. My next BIG goal is to lose 60 pounds. I really need to lose 80 but lets focus on the first 60 right now! LOL

I started Medifast on Friday so this is my 4th day on the food plan and so far so good. I was scared to start because I had heard that most people get headaches and an upset tummy. Thankfully I have not experienced that! YAY! But I have experienced something great! Weight loss!!

Every Monday I will post my update and how my past week went. So here is my first
update.

Weight Loss this week (Friday-Monday) : -5 pounds
Total Weight Loss on Medifast: -5 pounds
Weight left to loose: 55 pounds

I am so proud of myself so far. I have only "cheated" once and that was eating a cheese cube at a child's birthday party! I didnt even look at the cake! I am motivated!! YAY!! Keep it up!!

Next week on Monday I will have more to talk about but so far these 4 days have been great.

Thanks for all your support!

Mom Car?

Okay all you Mommies out there, I need your advice!

So we are only a family of 3 right now – planning on at least 1 more addition to the family in the future – but we are already feeling the squeeze when it comes to transportation.

Let me explain.

Right now I drive this:
Photobucket

2002 Honda Accord 4 door – I love it!! Great gas mileage and it has been a very good little car for us for the past 8 years.

And it does us well. The 3 of us can scoot around town and have no problems. That is until we have more than 1 other adult with us in the car.

That
“Big Boy” car seat sure does take up a lot of room in the back seat. Yikes.

Now this usually isn’t a problem but we noticed it a lot this weekend when Jeremy’s parents were here for a visit. In order for the 5 of us to go anywhere together we had to either take 2 cars OR borrow my parent’s minivan. Umm…annoying!!

Now, I realize that they do not come to visit THAT often so this isn’t that big of a deal BUT let me give you another situation – going to dinner with my parents.

Well yes, they have a minivan but my dad is getting rid of that soon. What will we do then?

I know that we cannot afford a HUGE car payment and I would really miss my small little car and I feel rather stupid driving/buying a big car for 1 child! Plus with gas prices going sky high – Oy, I just don’t know! HELP!!!

And I worry that most SUV’s have just as much space in the back seat as my car.

Any suggestions on maybe a larger sedan or is our best bet to go big or go home? LOL

Here are some other cars that Jeremy has brought up to me.

Photobucket
Honda Odyssey – so pretty! And I love Hondas but it is a van. Not sure if I am THAT mom!

Photobucket
Nissan Moreno - LOVE IT!! But is it that much bigger in the back seat? And $$$$$!!!

Photobucket
Wow – HUGE! Chevy Tahoe! Yikes Maybe too big for me!

So there you go, now it is your turn. What do you drive? Want to drive? Or HATE to drive?

To Give Up or Not to Give Up?

Photobucket

Today marks the beginning of Lent – although I am not Catholic I am Christian – Lutheran to be exact and I have always thought that the idea of “giving up” something for 40 days is a great way to remember why we celebrate the season of Lent.
Yes celebrate! – most people find the season of Lent sad and dark but I see it as an extended celebration of the season to come which is Easter.

Without the season of Lent we would never find the season of Easter!! Which by the way, Easter Sunday service is by far my favorite church service of the year – brings hope and new beginning! LOVE IT!!

Most years I try to give up some sort of food or category of food – pretty much everyone does this right? One year I gave up bread – yup I did that my Freshman year of college and I DID IT!! It was so hard but I stuck with it. One year I *tried* to give up pop – yeah that didn’t work. And throughout high school I tried the no chocolate thing and the no candy thing.

Well this year is going to have to be different.
As you have read in a previous post, I am starting a new meal plan with
Medifast.
I will say it over and over again, something I NEVER thought I would do but here we are. And because I am starting this program, I am already “giving up” some very unhealthy eating habits – GO ME! So I am kind of excited that this is all falling into the Lent season as well.
Sort of ironic don’t ya think? LOL

So here is what I am giving up ON TOP of the unhealthy eating habits – shopping, clothes shopping for me to be exact. I spend way too much money on clothes for me that I don’t need. I am hoping that by the end of the 40 days I will not only be healthier but NEED to actually go out and buy a new pair of jeans or something because I will have lost weight!! Bottom line – Lent is for us to remember that God gave up his ONLY Son for us – amazing! So I should be able to give up shopping! Come on!

So this Lent season I am working on a lot. But I also find it very comforting that when Easter comes, I will be cleansed and ready for a new beginning and what a great way to celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord! Maybe with this Lent season I will stay focused on what really matters in life and is my family which I love dearly and want to be around for and healthy for!

What are you all giving up for Lent? Do you participate in Lent? Why or Why Not?

Next week starts something NEW!

I just placed an order for a program that I NEVER thought I would do. Well things change - stress, life, work, a baby! You know the drill. And when any of the above affect me - I EAT! Yum!! Bring it on!
I have a skinny husband - God Bless him. I love him but I hate him all the same. He can eat whatever he wants and doesnt gain a pound!! Grrr!! Yeah that is how our 7 years of marriage have been too which is another reason for this lovely weight gain! lol
So I am trying a program called Medifast. I ordered it today, it should be to my door in 5-7 days. We will see. I have read that the first week is HELL. Oh joy. So lets just get to that week and get it over with.
On top of using this program I will be committing to riding the exercise bike 20 minutes at least 4 times a week. I can do this - I need to do it for Jude.
I want to lose 60 pounds, I need to lose 80-90...
We will see.
Of course more to come.
Thank you to all of my readers, family and friends for your support. It means a lot! :O)

We are so proud of Jude's new milestones he has accomplished.

He keeps us on our toes with all this rolling, scooting, and army crawling! Seriousy, this boy can boogie!

He started waving hi and bye-bye now. It makes my heart melt when I see that. Just plain adorable.

Sleep at night and naps have been rough for the last couple of months so we took a sugguestion from friends about starting bedtime a little earlier. We went from starting bedtime at 9pm to 8pm - WOW! What a difference. For the last 3 nights Jude has been sleeping from 8:30pm - 6:00am (that is when we wake him up) PLUS he has been taking 2 - 1 1/2 to 2 hour naps every day now too.
Pretty much our little turtle was just exhausted and wasn't sleeping well - I guess. So we will continue this new routine! :O)

Eating 3 solid meals a day plus about 4 bottles. Yum!!

Batheing in the big tub now - so many toys to play with in there! Fun!!

Lauging all the time!

Over all, Jude is doing great. We love him so much and we are having so much fun with him.

Ummm...birthday plans are in the making! Woot!! Momma is having fun!

Time to link up and play!
