Y3W: Bring On Fall

With August coming to a close I start to think about Fall time in Colorado and all I hope is that we get more FALL than just a couple weeks.  Let’s shoot for at least 2 months of Autumn weather before we jump into the snow – okay Colorado??

Things I love about season of Fall:

Starbucks released a statement saying September 4th it is coming back!!  I am going to be broke and happy!!

The changing colors but also the Fall fashions and decorations!!
Jude (October 2012 - 4 months old)

Oh the Aspens in Colorado are amazing!  You have to see them in person some day.

This picture is for 2 reasons - CU Buffs College football and the HOODIE!!  I love wearing hoodies.  Great weekend wear for Colorado.  Comfy and easy!  Ahhhh!!
Go CU!!

Pumpkin Patches, Halloween and Costumes!
We have a tradition of heading to a great Pumpkin Patch as a family.  Jude had a blast last year.
October 2011 - Jude the WOOF!

Also - time to start thinking about a costume for Jude and baby girl!!

So that is why I welcome Fall with open arms - these reasons and because it won't be 90 degrees anymore!!

What is your favorite season?

Have you Smiled yet today?

Often I feel like most of us take for granted what we have; this includes food, belongings, love and money - BUT have you ever taken for granted your SMILE?  Think about it...

photo: Operation Smile Website

Have you heard of Operation Smile?  If not you need to check out what this agency stands for right now!  It is amazing what your smile can do for your life.  A simple "normal" smile can make life easier for so many children and that is what Operation Smile is all about!

Operation Smile, is a charity helping change the lives of children one smile at a time. They are an amazing organization that performs life changing cleft lip surgeries on children who would never have the opportunity to have such a surgery due to the medical costs.

Each year more than 200,000 children are born with a severe cleft condition-some are unable to eat, speak, socialize, or smile – that is heartbreaking and a HUGE number of children!  The conditions of a cleft lip can be painful and even affect the child's ability to speak and eat!

Operation Smile is an international charity organization that provides free surgical services to children around the world – changing the future of these kiddos.  FREE!  Amazing!

Donations are what keep these surgeries happening – make sure you and your family seriously consider donating to this organization. Some of those donations come from CampusBookRentals.com for every time you rent textbooks – so if you or anyone you know are in need of text books please consider using Campus Book Rentals!

Operation Smile: A Smile is A Universal Right!

I smile when I see my son's smile - how lucky we are.  Be thankful and thoughtful when you look at your child's smile.  Thoughtful in a small donation maybe?

What Jude NEEDS to buy his baby sister...

Since we started "moving" baby girl into Jude's room he is really starting to understand what is happening.  I have always expected him to not want to share his toys and mommy and daddy but I have been really surprised at his growing list of items that "Jude needs to get sister"!  It is adorable and all of the items really make sense - he is a smart kiddo!!

A Hamper:
yes a clothes hamper!  We started putting baby girl's clothes into his hamper to wash and he FREAKED OUT!!  Tantrum on the floor, real tears, and taking the clothes out of HIS hamper.  I had no idea that a hamper would make that much of a difference.  So we added this to his list.

Blankies:
Jude sleeps with a receiving blanket every night - he let us know that he will NOT be sharing his blankies with the baby.  Point taken son!  This one makes total sense to me.  Those are his blankies!  ;o)

Piggy Bank:
We feed Jude's piggy all the time.  He really wants to buy his baby sister her own Piggy Bank because he is not sharing his "moneys"!  He has told us that she would like a blue one.

Piglet:
Winnie the Pooh is the theme in their room.  Jude sleeps with a Winnie the Pooh stuffy and has decided that his sister will sleep with a Piglet stuffy.  We found this one at Babies R Us and he decided it would work for her.  ;o)

I wonder what he will add to his list this weekend?

Wordless{ful} Wednesday: Big Boy Bed!

Well Jude is in a big boy bed at Grandma’s and Pa’s – thankfully not at our house yet, please stay that way for a while!!!

Jude was so excited to walk into his room at their house and see this!!

His reaction:  “McQueen bed for ME?!?!”

LOL  I love this kid!!

Now let’s hope he sleeps!

Maternity Picture Ideas

Yup it is that time - time to think about what we are going to do for our maternity photos.  I am honored and excited to be working with Nicole from It's Time Studios here in Denver Colorado.  She is just starting her dream of a photography business so I am thrilled to be helping her.

We will be getting out photos done the end of September - I am hoping for a nice fall like evening, we will see if Mother Nature cooperates with us.  I want to do family maternity pictures to make sure that Jude is apart of the memory.  So yes, lets hope he cooperates too!  ;o)

Here is what I have decided to dress us in:

JUDE:
Jean shorts and this blue polo for Jude.
Polo: Old Navy

ME:

Blue Maternity dress from Old Navy for me.

JEREMY:

Navy blue and white polo from Old Navy and jeans.

So pretty simple and BLUE!  We all have blue eyes so it is a good choice.

Now for some ideas for poses:

I love this one!

How adorable!

I really would like to use chalkboards - love the idea.

We need to find a way to announce the name too.

Here is Jude's announcement - any ideas?!?!

32 weeks - Prayers and Picture

How far along?
32 Weeks

Weight gain/loss?
+11 the exact same as what I was at with Jude at 32 weeks!  Weird!!

Maternity clothes?
 Yup!!

Stretchies?
Nothing new.

Sleep?
Waking up and not being able to get back to sleep.  It sucks!

Best moment this week?
My spa day on Saturday!  5 hours of me time!  Massage, Facial, Pedi and a Mani!  Loved it!  Thank you hubby!

WORST MOMENT THIS WEEK:
Our 32 week appointment and Ultrasound.  I know, that sounds weird but we left the appointment very confused and CONCERNED!  So I ask for prayers or happy vibes - what ever works for you.  This appointment was with the high risk doctor again, just another check to make sure all was okay after the crazy bleeding at 15 weeks.  So the baby looked great EXCEPT for two things.  Baby girl measured just fine - organs and such.  But then we found out that she was breech - something not to be terribly worried about at 32 weeks but still something that could really affect delivery.  So pray for a FLIP!!  ;)  Next and the scariest issue is that the doc said her abdomen is measuring small.   We were in shock - all he said was come back in 4 weeks.  Okay, so not too scary?!?!  I don't know.  I am freaked out.  I have a message into my doc and I hope to hear from her today.  What does this mean for her?  And why are we waiting for 4 weeks to come back in?!?!

Movement?
Yup – she doesn’t really have a specific time of crazy movement either – just very random. But I feel it so that’s all that matters!

Food cravings?
Pastries!

Gender?
GIRL!

Labor signs?
Some Braxton Hicks when I am walking too much!

Belly button in or out?
in but getting kind of shallow.

What I miss?
The EASY "normal" pregnancy that I had with Jude.  I am really feeling defeated.  It seems like it is one thing after another with this pregnancy.  I hate feeling this way.

What I am looking forward to?
Hearing from my doctor.  Just want some guidance!

Weekly wisdom?
Ask more questions - even if you are in shock just ask anything that is running through your mind!

Milestones?
32 weeks - just getting closer and closer!!

Appointments:
September 18th – 36 week appointment
September 25th - follow up growth u/s with high risk doc

Mommy thought she was a Hero!

Well I thought I was a HERO on Saturday but it ended up being a MOM FAIL in the end.  Don't worry, I am laughing when I am writing this so it turned out okay.

I walked into Wal-mart on Saturday to kill some time before my Spa Day and I saw something that Jude has said he NEEDED and WANTED since Christmas.  I looked at it and immediately picked it up.  I HAD to buy it and I just knew he would be sooooo excited!!  HERO FOR THE DAY!!

So what was thing special item - you ask?!?!

Why its a DREAM LITE!

So, I walk in the house and show him - he is so happy!  He cannot wait to use it at night.  YAY!  Mommy wins.

Well then comes bedtime, he is still excited, we turn out the lights and turn on his Puppy, close his door and BOOM!!  TEARS - SCARED TEARS!!  WTF?!!?  lol

We turned off the Dream Lite and he went right to sleep.  Oh MY GOSH!!

I have an update - Jude is asleep right now, with the Dream Lite on.  MOM wins again!!

This kid - I love him so damn much!

Journal 10 Review and Giveaway

I have always tried to journal and I have always failed.  When I was contacted by Journal 10+ and went to their website to read about their journal I got REALLY excited.  I thought to myself - "now THIS journal I cannot fail!"

When I received it in the mail I opened it immediately and started filling in some past dates that I remembered what I did on those dates.  It was so easy and really fun.

This journal is different because the space per day is just a couple lines so it isn't intimidating or overwhelming at all.  And I think the best part about it is that each page is dedicated to 10 years of the same day.  Talk about walking down memory lane!  After a couple years it will be so fun to be able to see what I did or my family did on the same day years before!  I cannot wait.

This journal is well made and looks like it will keep nice for many years past the 10 year mark.  I am planning on buying more of these for family and friends for Christmas this year because I love this idea and think it would be great for teenagers, parents, and grandparents.

Some features:

~As you make each entry you see what was happening on that day in previous years.
~Re-reading triggers memories of people, places and events otherwise forgotten.
~Captures personal and family development and milestones.
~Takes just 5 minutes a day or less.
~No pressure to fill a blank page and you can start on any day of the year.
~Builds over time into a family memoir.

How to get your own:
For more information and to order online please visit the Journal 10 website. You can also connect with them on Facebook.

Giveaway:
The good people at Journal 10 have agreed to give away a journal to one lucky reader! Must be 18 or over. To enter please fill out the Rafflecopter form below. Good luck!  Thank you Journal 10 for this opportunity!!

Progress!

Yes, that's right!  We made some progress on the nursery this weekend.  Since we finally got the Playroom all organized and have ALL of the toys in that room only we decided we really had to start focusing on the room that this little baby girl will be moving into!!  Yeah - 9 weeks until the due date!  CRAP!!  Time to get moving.

First a little glimpse into the Playroom:
We love Ikea!!  Great storage!!

You can see the floor now...wonder how long that will last??

Organized!  YAY!!  Ready for Jude and baby girl to play!

The Playroom is one of the 2 rooms in the basement - we have 2 rooms upstairs too.  Like I said before, I am so not ready for Jude to be downstairs so Jude and the baby will be sharing a room.  Which is why we had to get all of the toys and books into the Playroom.

So the upstairs room (nursery) will be just for sleeping and changing!  It is a little cramped in there with 2 cribs and 2 dressers but we are going to make it work.

Time for progress pictures!

Jude helping Daddy build his sister's bed.  Oh such a big boy!

Makes it easier if I sit on it Daddy!  ;)

He was telling me that this is his sister's bed!  lol  So serious!!

Jude approved!!!

For now - Baby Girl's corner.

I promise to show more pictures once the other side of the room is clean!  :O)

I am so proud of our progress!

Less than 9 weeks people!!!!!!!!!  YIKES!!

Cage him!!

Yes, I just wrote "cage him" in my title and I absolutely mean JUDE!!

Child - you are not ready for a BIG BOY BED!  Errr...your PARENTS are not ready for you to be in a big boy bed yet!!  Too many changes for us all.

Jude climbed out of his crib at my parents today during nap time.  He didn't fall or get hurt so it is now a game.  He is asleep in his crib now in his room - here's to hoping that was just a fluke and he will be in his CAGE, I mean crib for a while longer.  If not, this household will not be sleeping for a long time!!

Baby proofing is on - so much to consider in the nursery now.  Could be a fun weekend.

When did your kids transition to a big kid bed?

Jude is 2 years and 2 months old.  Oy!!!

Wordless Wednesday: Dumbo

All I have to say about this picture is -
it was sooo worth the $0.50!

Baptism Day for Carter and Annabelle

My niece and nephew were baptized last weekend at our family church.  It was a great service and the babies did really well...well until we wanted a picture!  LOL  When we were taking pictures Carter was going nuts - he was one hungry boy!

(My brother Jarrin, Annabelle, Avery, Carter and Kayla)

These little ones turn 5 months on Saturday - seriously, that went fast!!

It was a great family day of celebration for the twins.

And the necessary picture of Jude:

My Aunt Beckie got him to fall asleep!  Well done!!!  :O)  She needs to come to church with us every Sunday!!

Y3W: Our Guilty Pleasure

Yes, that is a Fondue Pot full of the best cheese on earth!!  Get in my belly!!!

As you may have read, Jeremy and I hit our 9 year Wedding Anniversary on the 9th.  We sort of have a tradition for our Anniversary dinner and that is FONDUE!  We have been going to our local Melting Pot for years and we will continue!  So good!

The only complaint I have from last night...this baby squishing my tummy so that I got full WAY TOO quickly!  ;o)  Move over baby, make room for Fondue!!  lol

Yummy food, great company and a night out!!

Happy 9 years Jeremy!!

PS - we are seriously thinking of a big trip for our 10 year...any suggestions?? World Wide too!!

On Being Pregnant...again

Here I am in my 30th week of my second pregnancy and I started thinking:
What is different this time around?
How have I changed since my pregnancy with Jude?
What am I feeling?
What am I doing?
10 weeks isn’t that far away.  And if baby girl is anything like her brother she will be here in 8 weeks – not 10!  Crap!
So what is different this time?  I am not a nut ball, really I don’t think I was even THAT bad with Jude but I was a lot more worried about my food intake and exercise and over just taking it easy.  Well that is a big difference, taking it easy just doesn’t happen in our home – Jude is crazy!!
What am I feeling?  I am feeling a lot more uncomfortable than I remember at this point with Jude.  But mostly I am feeling not as connected to this baby for some reason – maybe because of the rough start we had?  Maybe because I feel like I am going to make Jude feel bad?  Maybe because I am just too damn tired to wait up to feel those baby kicks??  I don’t know.   I have heard this from other 2nd time moms so it doesn’t make me feel like the MOST TERRIBLE MOTHER ON EARTH!!  Lol  Okay, maybe a little.
Jude’s nursery was done by this time – the amount of stuff we have to accomplish in 8 weeks/10 weeks is sort of laughable.  It might happen…it probably won’t though.  Surprisingly, I am holding it together and not freaking out just yet…give me a couple weeks.
We do have a name picked though!  That is earlier than with Jude – point for us!!!  Still debating if we should share THE name just yet though….
As this pregnancy comes to a close I am also thinking – is this the last time I will feel a baby inside me?  Will we decide our family is complete?  I am not sure.  It is an uneasy feeling and for the time being – at least 3-4 years we are done, done with having a prego belly.  A part of me is fine with that – we have a boy and girl, what most people LONG for.  And to be quite honest, this pregnancy was hard, and scary in the beginning, not something I would wish on anyone.  If I knew that my next pregnancy could be just like with Jude – I would jump on it!
Being pregnant is fun, being pregnant is hard, and being pregnant is beautiful.  And as of today, I love being pregnant.  We are so blessed.
I cannot wait to meet baby girl and bring her into our home and our life.   Seriously, 10 weeks cannot come soon enough, even if the nursery isn’t done…who cares!
