2014 is here and while I am not one to set resolutions I do set goals. One of my top goals for the New Year is to live a more balanced lifestyle. This includes making better choices about what I eat and drink. I look forward to this change and want to make sure I stick with it. In order to do that I need the right food and the right attitude, especially at work. I sit at a desk all day long, I get hungry (or bored) and I always reach for the wrong snacks. I typically want sweet treats or high calorie carbs. Not this year!
When I went grocery shopping at Walmart this week I was on a mission. A mission to find everything I would need at work in order to stay on track and work on this Balanced Lifestyle that I so desperately need. Time to be real with you, in the last 3 or 4 months I haven't cared about what I ate or drank. I feel it. I know I have gained weight and I certainly know I do not feel good about the choices I have been making. I was so proud with what I found at Walmart, I was almost excited to go to work on Monday...almost! ;)
Who doesn't need coffee in the morning? I NEED it but I certainly do not need all of the extra sugar, calories and fat added to my coffee. Instead of making a stop at the local coffee shop for my favorite "entire days calories" White Mocha coffee I simply enjoyed a large cup of yummy Sugar Free French Vanilla Coffee-mate Coffee. It was perfect and yummy and I was so proud of myself when I started to think about the money I saved - Living a Balanced Lifestyle isn't always about food! I love breakfast but often do not eat it, that is not balanced! In order to keep my meals balanced and my tummy full I added a Lean Cuisine Turkey Sausage English Muffin to enjoy with my coffee. This sandwich was really good and filling. I wasn't hungry at 10am like I had been lately.
Did someone say lunch? My all time favorite Lean Cuisine meal is the Sesame Chicken. The Sesame Chicken meal is delicious! It isn't some skimpy frozen meal at all, this is a lunch that will leave you completely satisfied and full. Exactly what you need while you sit at a desk all day. The best part is that with the chicken and veggies you know you are getting a lot of great fiber, protein and lean fat. Did anyone say Balanced? Oh and I love when my coworkers asked if I brought leftovers, yes these frozen meals look and taste home-cooked!
Around 3pm every afternoon I hit a wall. It doesn't matter what I am doing at work...that wall just jumps out at me. In the past I would walk to the vending machine and find a sweet treat to "keep me awake". That sweet treat was making me feel worse! Skinny Cow Devine Candy has made me rethink my treat choice. I have this thing for caramel recently, I saw these and my mouth was watering. At only 130 calories this treat helps me give into my sweet treat but at the same time keeps me on track. When I eat these I am not feeling like I am cheating on my Balanced Lifestyle goal. Instead, I am feeling balanced in my choices.
I am going to do this. I am going to make better choices in my meals at work and in doing so I will find that Balanced Lifestyle that we all should be focusing on. With the help of Lean Cuisine, Skinny Cow and Coffee-mate I am going to do it.
