As we move through the 2nd month of the year we are still focused on making better choices in our food and exercise decisions. One way we have started our mornings off right is by making smoothies and adding Flax Seed to those smoothies. At first I was nervous to try Flax but I am happy with the addition to my smoothies and have found a new favorite for the mornings too!
Apple Pie Smoothie

3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/3 cup ice
1 tsp Vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 TBSP Flax Seed
Using a blender, blend all ingredients until completely smooth.
I am not kidding - this smoothie tastes just like apple pie but is good for you! The applesauce helps you get a couple of servings of fruit in your smoothie, the milk gives you calcium and protein and the Flax Seed is a great source of fiber and Omega 3! That's a lot of good packed in that smoothie that literally takes 5 minutes to make!
Our kids even approve this delicious smoothie!
