Beaches, Blue Water and Social Media

In 2009, I started this place we call Building Our Story.  Never in a million years would I have guessed that 6 years into this journey I would have turned an online journal into more than just a hobby but a job and in the years to come maybe a career.  I would be lying if I said it was all fun and no stress but being completely honest is what I do here - 95% of it is amazingly fun, full of creative powers and something I never thought I would enjoy so much.

Last month a special treat appeared in my email and my breath left my chest - NO WAY!  That invite only event was sitting in my inbox.  Was it real?  I am excited for most invitations I see in my inbox but this one was different - a coveted invite that will not take us to Downtown Denver for a night out or to an amusement park on the coast but to the Beaches of the Bahamas!  Yes friends - the Bahamas!

The Social Media On the Sand conference takes place in Turks and Caicos on the amazing Beaches resort.  Turks and Caicos Islands are about 40 miles southeast of the Bahamas.  The Turks and Caicos islands are a British Commonwealth Colony that is one of the best kept secrets in the Caribbean.  This archipelago of eight major islands and 30-plus uninhabited cays is mostly flat land with exceptionally beautiful beaches. The highest elevation is found on Grand Turk at only 163 feet.

Jeremy and I went back and forth on how we would be experiencing this amazing opportunity.  After a lot of pricing of plane tickets and talking we decided that we would be taking this trip with out kiddos.  While we know that The Beaches Resorts are filled with kid friendly activities and that Jude and Teagan would have a ton of fun, we are taking the advantage of this as a couple only!  We are thinking of this as a second honeymoon - the beach version instead of the mountain adventure we had almost 12 years ago!

I am still in shock that the invitation was in my inbox and now that the resort is booked and our plane tickets are paid for we are sitting here counting down the days!  Time to get beach ready!  I am so excited to meet friends from all over the country and spend some time learning from them and having lots of beach fun.

What have I learned from this?  Blogging has truly been a blessing for our family that I never could have imagined.  I need to thank all of you for your ongoing support and readership - I hope you know how much I love my readers!  THANK YOU!

I would love to hear if you are attending this conference or if you have in the past.
Have you or your family ever stayed at a Beaches resort?
