This time of the year the kids love being outside, especially after dinnertime.  It is cooler, the sun is still out and it is the perfect way to wind down after a fun summer day.  Jude and Teagan really like doing crafts, especially painting.  I am THAT mom that feels like any painting craft with kids ends up being way more work than fun.  Well, I decided that after a nice summertime dinner we would head out into our backyard and let the kids paint before dessert and bedtime. Disclosure - this was still a messy craft but so easy to turn the hose on and clean-up the yard!!

Directions:

1.  Empty out the eggs.  I did this by carefully breaking a hole into the top of the egg.  Once there is a hole, drain the egg from the shell.

2.  Wash the inside of the egg shells out with warm water.  Return them to the egg carton to dry for a little bit.

3.  Carefully pour paint into each egg shell.

4.  Set up the canvas outside on the grass or an easy to spray down area outside.  We put down big buckets and leaned the canvas' against them.

5.  Let the kids pick up one egg at a time and throw it hard at the canvas.

6.  The egg should crack and splat paint onto the canvas.  Continue doing this until all of the eggs are broken and used.

7.  Let dry completely before hanging the Splat art up on the wall!

Such a fun project for my kids.  Sure it was messy but it cleaned right up out of the grass and even off of the kids' hands.  I think if we do this again, we will either do smaller canvas pieces or do double the eggs.  The kids went through them pretty fast and there is a lot of white left on the canvas'.
This was such a fun way to end a summer day.  After we hosed down the grass and cleaned up the kids we decided it was time for some dessert.  Recently, when I was at my local King Soopers I stumbled into the cookie aisle, yes I know...stumbled.  Well, when I stumbled I found some of our favorite cookies, OREO.  But instead of grabbing our normal OREO Double Stuff I went for something a little more fun! It's so true - life wouldn’t be as "Wonderfilled" without OREO sandwich cookies!!

Currently, there are a number of yummy OREO Wonder Vault varieties at King Soopers, I really couldn't pass any of them up; OREO Red Velvet, OREO Birthday Cake, OREO Salted Caramel and OREO Cinnamon Bun.

Moms have a goal of finding and enjoy more family time. Finding moments like simple dessert in the backyard on a summer evening is a mom win for sure.  Take time this summer to enjoy those moments and create memories with those little people in your life.  And like me...be okay with a mess!

While I have thoroughly enjoyed all of these OREO Wonder Vault varieties my very favorite so far is the OREO Birthday Cake, I also thought it was fun that the cream inside matched the kids artwork!!  Ha!  Now that is artist flavor there!

When you are shopping this week make sure you keep an eye out for the OREO Wonder Vault and MILKA OREO Chocolate Candy Bar store demos at participating Kroger grocers 6/15-6/18. These demos will present Kroger-exclusive recipes, information on the newest OREO flavors, Limited Edition varieties, the new MILKA OREO Chocolate Candy Bar, fun facts about the history of OREO and Kroger, and much more! I am excited to see what info they have about all of their yummy creations!

Now this looks like the perfect summertime dessert table!  YUM! The only flavor that we have not experienced is the OREO Salted Caramel, I really hope we can find that variety soon because that is my favorite flavor combo!  YUM!

Something to keep in mind when you pick up any of these OREO Wonder Vault varieties at your local Kroger store is the great BOGO offer that is available today through 6/20! Buy one Wonder Vault flavor OREO and get a free MILKA OREO Chocolate Candy Bar!  Think of this as a great offer for Mom to enjoy!  One for THEM and one for YOU!

PS - have you tried the MILKA OREO Chocolate Candy Bar? These are the chocolate bars Moms should be hiding in the closet eating after a rough day with the kids.  Thank you OREO for that!

  1. I keep hearing about those MILKA OREO Chocolate Candy Bars, but haven't seen any near me yet! I will have to keep an eye out the next time I hit Target, I am sure they have to have them there and I just wasn't watching for em. Looks like you have some budding painters on your hands there! #EggArtists :-)

  4. My little guy will enjoy doing this. I think I might even enjoy it if I don't have to be the one to clean up the mess. It would help pass the time by being outdoors.

  7. We don't have those Oreo variants here. :( I want to try the red velvet. It seems interesting. The milka oreo chocolate candy bar is also enticing especially for those who have a sweet tooth.

  8. I'm not very creative so I never would have thought to use egg shells for paint, but this looks so fun. I can't wait to try this out with our granddaughters. And, for the Oreos, OMG! They look delicious. Going to have to look for these.

  9. This is kind of cool. I know that my daughter would love doing something like this. Some how throwing eggs all over the place would suit her. I am just worried that as much paint would get on me as it would get on the canvas. Maybe I would have to invest in one of those rain covers for me if I were going to allow this at home. :-)
