Caprese Avocado Toast - Time For a Better Period

Ladies, this one is for you today.  How many of you have had the period struggle for years?  If you are like me, you do not have confidence during that time of the month.  Let me be clear, woman are amazing and so are our bodies but that time of the month can be frustrating, painful, expensive and miserable.  I was one of those women that prayed that they (I have no idea who they are) were right and after having children, my period would be easier.  Ugh...not true.

Over the last few years I have seen so many women praising the DivaCup, a reusable, bell-shaped silicone menstrual cup but honestly I was unsure of trying this product.  The fact is, my period is not fun and I want a better experience.  I recently joined the many women worldwide searching for a better period solution by switching to The DivaCup!

We have all had Avocado toast and it is great, but I decided to give my toast a bit of an upgrade by adding in my favorite salad, Caprese.

Ingredients:

Whole Wheat bread
Ripe avocado 
1 TBSP lemon juice 
Pinch of salt and pepper 
Grape tomatoes, sliced in half
Fresh Basil, chopped
Mozzarella slices

Directions:

1.  Toast bread in toaster or toaster oven. 

2. Scoop out all of the avocado from the skin into a small bowl. 

3.  Add lemon juice and salt and pepper to the avocado and mass up completely.  Do not over mass, leave some avocado chunks for texture.  

4.  Spread the avocado onto the toasted bread.

5.  Add sliced tomatoes to the avocado toast.

6.  Top the tomatoes with fresh basil.

7.  Add sliced Mozzarella to complete this caprese avocado toast. 

8.  Eat immediately, ENJOY!!

Optional - you can also add balsamic glaze to your toast but I find with the avocado there is enough oil on this "caprese" recipe.

  2. hmmm..I think I've seen or heard about the Diva Cup, but I am so used to using tampons, that I would be very nervous on using this, but like you said, once you use it for the first time, it should be less hassle. I love avocados! I even made avocado deviled eggs and they were awesome!

  6. I am a fan of avocados but I never tried them on toast before. This looks absolutely delicious! I will let my daughter know about the cup, the ONLY good thing about being over 50 is I don't have to worry about that anymore.

  7. I didn't know avocados help. I'm one of those who are in pain for 2 days. Unbearable I must say. I've also never heard of Diva Cup until I saw your post. Will check it out when I'm at RiteAid. Thanks for sharing.

  8. I am a huge fan of the diva cup. I don't know that I will ever go back. Until I have a problem with them, I am sold. What a great new product from women!

  12. The toast here does look so delicious. I am always a big fan of caprese. I wonder if a little smattering of balsamic vinegar would make it taste even better. Although curious to see how that would go with the avocados. As for the rest of the post I will be keeping this in mind as my daughter should be starting her period soon. Maybe not with the product but certainly to have foods that may help out with the pain around the house.
