My Fifth Stitch Fix - Plus Size Fashion

Well here we are again. I have decided, and put in our budget, that I will be receiving a Stitch Fix monthly. I love it. And saying this also means I am cleaning out my closet of clothing that I just do not wear anymore. I am really looking forward to continuing to build my time capsule wardrobe. Finding pieces that are comfortable, that can be dressed up or down, and worn with multiple outfits. Big plans of getting that closet under control - UGH!!

The days that I receive my beautifully put together Stitch Fix box in the mail is a good day. I means I get to go shopping but not have to leave my house! Love that! Over the last few months I have been sharing my experiences using the Plus Size options for Stitch Fix and I have been pleasantly impressed with all of my stitches. Whether you are a plus size gal, a misses size lady or even a business man I totally suggest you give Stitch Fix a chance.

Okay, enough chatting.  Ready to see what came in my December fix?  My requests this fix was all about winter necessities, both comfortable and fashionable.  I think my stylist delivered pretty well once again!

Item 1 - Edyson Hampton Skinny Corduroy

Let me be clear, I did ask for new colors for my pants but when I first saw these mustard yellow cords I was sure that I would hate them.  Now before I go into my thoughts about these pants I also should let you know that I love colored skinny pants.  I just love the change from regular blue jeans or leggings.  After I put these on I was sold, it was a lot of mustard but it worked, especially with my brown boots.  The cords are so comfortable as well.  After wearing them for a bit I should have returned them for a smaller size because they do stretch after wearing.  These were a size 24 - I think I could have gotten away with a 22 or even a 20.  The skinny cords were $68.00.  A bit pricey but for cords I suppose that is normal.

Verdict - KEPT!

Item 2 - Loveappella Vivienne Cuff Detail Knit Top

This knit top has NO give but other than that I love this top.  The muted navy color, cuffs, stripes and cut!  So perfect!  My stylist suggested this top to wear with the mustard skinny cords and it went perfectly.  I was concerned that the top was too athletic looking but once I had it on I changed the way this top looked in my mind.  It is comfortable but not messy.  This top is a size 3x and the price is $54.00.

Verdict - KEPT!

Item 3 - Bay to Baubles Emily Filigree Leaf Pendant

This gold leaf pendant necklace was beautiful.  It was light and perfect for the fall.  Some of the additional accents included the bead work on the chain.  While I thought this was beautiful and would totally wear it, it kept getting tangled.  The chain seemed a little cheap and I worried it wouldn't last long.  This necklace was $28.00 and in my opinion not worth that amount.

Verdict - Sent Back.

Item 4 - Pixley Chesley Cable Chenille Cardigan

This navy cardigan would be perfect for those cozy days in the mountains.  It was soft, had pockets and a great navy color.  However, when I put it on, I felt like it did nothing for me.  I do love cardigans but this one was very thick...almost too much for me.  In Colorado you do need layers but this one kind of felt like wearing a blanket.  This cardigan was a size 3x and fit fine.  The price was $68.00.

Verdict - Sent Back.

Item 5 - 41 Hawthorn Gilda Polka Dot Pullover

Hi, my name is Censie and I LOVE Polka Dots!!!  I saw this sweater and I instantly wanted it.  It fits so perfectly and I have worn it at least once a week now that it is finally cold here in Colorado.  I wear it with my jeans or any of my colorful skinny jeggings.  It is comfortable but can totally be dressed up too!  This pullover retails at $68.00 and is a size 3X.  The sleeves are a little long but other than that it fits perfectly.  I know this is going to be a staple in my closet for seasons to come!

Verdict - KEPT!

Well there you have it.  I bought 3 of the 5 items from my fix this month.  I have enjoyed all 3 of the items this month too.  Perfect winter items to add to my closet!  For my January fix I asked for items to take to California with me for a blog conference.  I am really excited to see what my stylist sends!

Here are a few tips I believe that might be helpful when trying Stitch Fix for the first time.

My Tips:
  • Be honest on your profile - list your correct numbers even if it is hard to type those numbers out!
  • Do not look at the price card until you try on your items.
  • Ask for time capsule pieces - items that can be used from season to season.
  • Think outside the box - try something new!
  • Request for special events - need a dress for a wedding next month, ask for one!
  • Update your price ranges as your budget changes.

  6. You were sent some really great pieces. I for one love the cardigan! :-) I have done Stitch Fix in the past, and kept a few pieces. Sadly those pieces didn't last very long, they either piled or lost their fit after a while.
